Georgetown Fall Fair - September 7th, 2019

This past Saturday, September 7th, I made my first-ever visit to the Georgetown Fall Fair (which is surprising to some given how close I live to Georgetown). I met up with Phil, a friend that I had made back in college who I hadn't hung out with in a few years.

Based on from what I have heard about the Georgetown Fall Fair (and have now seen in person), it is a very small fair for a town of over 42,000 residents. This is mostly due to the fairgrounds being quite small in size. Despite the fact, a nice and small midway of rides, brought by Magical Midways of Scarborough, Ontario was set up at the fair. It consisted of a few rare classic such as the Loop-O-Plane and Paratrooper, as well as some more modern rides seen at many fairs throughout North America.

We also took in the sights of the of the popular Demolition Derby that took up a quarter of the fairgrounds. It definitely attracted quite a crowd as cars smashed into one another! There were a few other things to see at the Georgetown Fair as well. So, be sure to check out the photos below!

After finding a spot to park and meeting up with Phil, we ventured onto the fairgrounds. We were greeted by this amazing looking Paratrooper ride, a classic ride manufactured by Hrubetz.
Speaking of classics, here is the Loop-O-Plane. This ride was manufactured by Eyerly Aircraft Corporation and sends eight passengers upside down multiple times throughout the duration of the ride. Since I had never been on one before, I managed to take three rides on it throughout the evening!
I can happily say that the Loop-O-Plane has become another favourite classic ride of mine. Its quick looping action and hang time make it quite a thrill!
At the far end of the fairgrounds was a agricultural tent featuring various livestock that can be found on many local farms. Although being from a former dairy farm (now sheep farm), it is nice to see an agricultural aspect tied into today's fairs.
There were also some donkeys in the tent. They did not look too impressed.
Continuing on with the theme of agriculture, there were also some vintage tractors on display.
Here's a view of the Paratrooper and the Loop-O-Plane from a distance.
Before watching the Demolition Derby, we took a spin on the Paratrooper. This Paratrooper was an older model where it loads one car at a time. So, while we were waiting for the ride to begin, Phil captured this photo of us on it.
After an enjoyable ride on the Paratrooper, we walked over to the "standing room only" demolition derby. These smashup cars featured various designs.
There was also some humour added to some of the cars.
Here they go zooming around just before the demolition began.
In reality, a demolition derby is just an advanced version of bumper cars in my opinion.
The drivers eventually began to T-bone each other as the derby went on.
As you can see in this photo, various parts from cars began to fall onto the ground as the crashing intensified.
The skies started to darken a bit, making the Paratrooper stand out.
The Loop-O-Plane also looked very nice with its lights on.
The Scrambler also had a bright set of LED lights.
Here's a close-up shot of the Paratrooper as the sun began to set.
The Area 51 (a Wisdom Rides Gravitron) was spinning really fast judging by this photo I had captured.
After getting on a couple of rides, we ventured back over to the Demolition Derby to see how it was coming along. The cars were going quite fast and were smashing up like crazy!

Here I am taking another ride on the crazily fun Loop-O-Plane!
The Paratrooper sure stood out on the midway with not only its vibrant orange and blue colour scheme, but also because of its bright LED lights.
Magical Midways had also brought along an Orient Express coaster, set up beside the Scrambler. The children visiting the Georgetown Fall Fair were enjoying it.
Here's a closeup view of the classic Eli Bridge manufactured Scrambler after dark.
Here's Phil and I just before the ride on the Scrambler began! It was quite forceful!
The Loop-O-Plane had quite the line-up. Luckily it moved fast with the efficient operations of the ride operator.
As the evening went on, the crowds within the vendor area began to dissipate.
Here's a long exposure shot featuring the Loop-O-Plane. It's quite photogenic!
On display was a 1968 GMC pickup truck. It looked to be kept up quite nicely.
Here I am taking my final ride of the night on the Loop-O-Plane! It felt more forceful than the other rides I had on it earlier that evening. The gasoline engine sure gave it quite a kick compared to electric operated rides!
Here's a view of a busy midway. The lines were quite long due to the small number of rides. But I was thrilled that they had three classic rides on the midway!
Just before leaving the fair for the evening, I captured this photo of a re-themed Wisdom Rides manufactured Raiders fun house ride. It featured a Lego Movie theme. It was definitely popular with the youngest of visitors earlier in the evening.

Thanks for checking out the photos of my first visit to the Georgetown Fall Fair! :-)
