It was a somewhat smoky and hazy day at Canada's Wonderland on Wednesday, June 7th due to the forest fires in North Ontario and Quebec. Regardless of the not so great air quality, I managed to have a great day!
My Mom and my brother Scott came along for a day of fun! The all-new Tundra Twister had opened the previous weekend, so I was able to get four rides on it, all of which provided different experiences. Tundra Twister is a great ride and a solid addition to the park! Between my first two rides on Tundra Twister in the morning, I was able to talk to some fellow enthusiasts (Tyler of Wonderland Weekly and Parker of Adventures with Parker) about how wonderful the addition of Tundra Twister is!
Be sure to check out photos from my day below!

The sky was quite grey from the smoke of the forest fires in Northern Ontario and Quebec, giving the sun an orange glow. |
Here's a new profile picture for my social media accounts, the first new one in a few years! |
Once the park opened for the day, we were off to Tundra Twister, the all-new for 2023 ride! |
Tundra Twister is a-one-of-a-kind ride manufactured by Mondial Rides of the Netherlands. It is a giant pendulum ride that swings back and forth before going over the top, making for a 360° rotation that takes riders over 150 feet into the air! In addition to the 360° rotation of the arm, the gondolas also rotate and flip throughout the ride! |
Situated in Frontier Canada, Tundra Twister is themed to an old mining machine. The boom (main arm) has a wooden print on it to fit in with the theme of the area! |
Tundra Twister is a massive, but rather quiet ride compared to other pendulum rides in the park. |
Thrill-seekers will definitely have their senses reeling as the twist and flip on Tundra Twister! |
Scott and I's second ride was taken immediately after our first once the park opened. It was more intense as the gondola was positioned to allow us to experience diving head-first towards the ground! |
The view from the top is amazing! |
The gondolas rock back and forth as the arm swings around! |
It is hard to get great shots of Tundra Twister as it is wedge along Splash Works and Yukon Striker. |
The diving and twisting feeling is simply awesome, which also provides some interesting airtime as you head towards the ground! |
Tundra Twister accommodates 40 passengers per ride with 20 passengers per gondola seated back to back! |
Tundra Twister also has some mining theming surrounding the ride, adding to the overall experience such as this entrance to a mine shaft. |
The sign for Tundra Twister looks really great! I love how it has a 3-D aspect. |
Here is some more mining theming. |
After riding Tundra Twister twice in a row, it was time to ride some other rides and roller coasters including Yukon Striker and Mighty Canadian Minebuster (as seen from the Yukon Striker queue). |
From a distance, it looks like Tundra Twister narrowly misses Yukon Striker! |
Luckily The Bat was open during this visit as it was closed the previous two times! The Bat is one of my favourite traditional Vekoma Boomerang coasters. |
Since my last visit to Canada's Wonderland, the landscaping crew had put in more flowers around the park. |
In the mid to late afternoon I took two more rides on Tundra Twister! Standing next to the ride while in operation provides a nice breeze! |
Throughout the ride, there were times I would let go and others I would hang on. lol |
Yukon Striker's drop after the brake run is right next to Tundra Twister. I love it when rides interact with each other! |
White Water Canyon had attracted quite a crowd during our visit as it was warmer than the last time I had visited two weeks earlier. |
After another fun day spent at Canada's Wonderland, it was time to head out as I had some other commitments that evening. I hope you enjoyed my photos of another great day at Canada's Wonderland! |
Here's a photo looking south of Canada's Wonderland from the parking lot as we were leaving just after 4:30pm. The smoke from the forest fires was quite thick! |
