On July 7th, 2025 I made my fourth visit of the season to Canada's Wonderland! While it was quite hot and humid for most of the day, I made the most of it by going on many rides thanks to the short lines, getting on 17 different rides!
During my visit, I got to see AlpenFury testing and rode Mighty Canadian Minebuster which recently reopened after receiving a retracking on the first half of the ride by Gravity Group during the off-season. It was a great visit spent with my brother Scott and our mom!
Enjoy the photos and updates below! 🙂
It was a bright and sunny morning when the gates opened at 9:30am. |
While waiting for the rides to open for the day, I captured a couple of photos of AlpenFury's track. It is just so twisted! |
While not yet open, the layout and elements on AlpenFury look really fun! |
After rope drop, Scott and I headed to Vortex. On our way over, I took some photos of the updates made since my last visit two and a half weeks ago. The AlpenFury sign is now in place! |
In the newly transformed AlpenFest area are some new games. I really like how this whack-a-mole type game turned out! The glow-up of the structure looks really nice and fits in very well with the newly transformed section! |
Gone are the arcade games that were there over the past couple of years. There are now games of skill such as balloon popping and muck buckets in the former rising waters building on the way to Vortex. |
Today when riding Vortex, we were assigned to the back row of the third car. I forgot how insane the swinging is in the middle! |
Off in the distance Yukon Striker was hanging riders at the edge of its 230 foot drop! I would ride it later on in the morning. |
Our second ride of the day was on The Fly! From the queue of The Fly, you can see the recently installed railings for the AlpenFury queue. It is a lot of switchback in a rather small space! Hopefully some shade structures get added! |
Since my last visit, the footings for AlpenFury have been incased in a rock-type design along the path of AlpenFest! It is a really nice touch, making them look more natural! |
After a quick intense ride on Shockwave, we headed off to Action Zone for rides on Behemoth, Backlot Stunt Coaster, and Sledge Hammer! |
Mighty Canadian Minebuster was doing some test cycles before opening for the day at 11am. |
While riding Behemoth, I noticed the line for Backlot Stunt Coaster was very short, so I took a ride on it, followed with a ride on Sledge Hammer with Scott. |
Afterwards, Scott joined me for a ride on the recently retracked Mighty Canadian Minebuster as it reopened since our last visit! Gravity Group, the manufacturer tasked with retracking the first half of Mighty Canadian Minebuster this past off-season did a phenomenal job! It was super smooth and enjoyable! Here's hoping they come back and redo the second half! |
The retracking was really great! I haven't rode Mighty Canadian Minebuster with my hands up in a few years! After a great ride on Mighty Canadian Minebuster, I took a spin on Yukon Striker and Tundra Twister. Scott and I then rode White Water Canyon to cool off. |
After a refreshing ride on White Water Canyon, I had my first meal of the day at Lazy Bear Lodge. Thankfully the smoked hickory chicken and smashed potatoes weren't burnt this time! |
The flowers around the park were really out in bloom, despite the heat! |
After hanging out in Frontier Canada, we headed over to Medieval Faire. Since the line for Viking's Rage was short, I took a ride on this classic pirate ship. |
After a ride on Viking's Rage, Scott and I were about to get in line for Drop Tower when we noticed how short Leviathan's line was! It was under a 15-minute wait! After a quick ride on Leviathan, we got in line for Drop Tower, which ended up closing down for the rest of the day due to high winds. Oh well, we'll ride Drop Tower next time! |
Leviathan rode very well and is always provides a forceful ride! |
AlpenFury began testing in the early afternoon. |
AlpenFury is very quiet, so it is (at least for me) hard to gauge when a train was being dispatched! Here is the orange train diving into Wonder Mountain before being launched up and out! |
Here is a look at the blue train being launched through the top hat element! Seeing the trains go through the track of AlpenFury has me excited to ride when it does open! |
I am looking forward to being whipped through its nine inversions! |
Here's another look at the top hat inversion that stands on top of Wonder Mountain. |
While looking at AlpenFury, I decided to enjoy a limited-time Canadian themed large soft-serve ice cream cone from Cookie Café for the Celebration Canada event held through mid-July. It has white chocolate and strawberry flavouring. It was really good despite melting really fast in the heat! |
AlpenFury's trains roared by overhead as I ate my ice cream. |
After eating the ice cream, we headed over to Grande World Expo of 1890. On our way over, we caught the tail-end of the Victoria Falls High Divers show. This performance has been an annual tradition since 1981!
The train on AlpenFury moves very quickly through the inversions! Below is a short clip of AlpenFury testing, showing just how fast it zips through the inversions! Here's hoping it opens soon! |
I really like the look of the two trains for AlpenFury. One represents fire while the other one represents ice! |
The 'Skyflyer loop' looks insane! |
The stall over the pathway to Grande World Expo of 1890 also looks awesome! |
With AlpenFury not quite ready yet, I opted for a ride on Flight Deck, which surprisingly wasn't too bad during this visit! |
After a thrilling ride on Flight Deck, I joined Scott and our mom for a relaxing ride on Antique Carousel. |
Of interest, the former Subway location in Action Zone is now occupied by ICEE and Dippin Dots. |
Afterwards, we headed back to Medieval Faire, taking in the Castaways show on Arthur's Baye. |
Lots of diving into Arthur's Baye was to be seen! |
The performers do a great job! You would never catch me diving from such heights! |
While in Medieval Faire, Scott and I rode Spinovator and Dragon Fyre. Afterwards, we got in line for our final ride of the day, Thunder Run! From the queue for Thunder Run, you can get great views of AlpenFury and AlpenFest. |
Before heading out, I redeemed my second meal of the day, again at Lazy Bear Lodge. This time I had ribs with smashed potatoes. The ribs were good, but the smashed potatoes were a little over cooked. |
Here's our mom, Scott, and I before heading out for the day shortly after 5pm. If I didn't have to go to work so early the next day, we would have stayed into the evening! Hopefully that can happen on my next visit! 🙂 |
