Acton Fall Fair - September 22nd, 2019

The third and final day (September 22nd) of the 106th Acton Fall Fair started out sunny and then turned gusty, which it would stay that way all day. By early afternoon, the dust began to pick up on the baseball diamonds at the back of Prospect Park, making visibility poor at times. Despite that, it was still a great time!

Be sure to check out the final photos that I had captured of this year's Acton Fall Fair, below!

The Miniature Horse Show had began at 11am. It was happening right behind where the Heritage Acton booth was located. There were many participants.
The Antique Tractor pulls were also taking place on the track in the late morning/early afternoon.
Sundays at the Acton Fall Fair are generally quiet. But there was still tons of fun to be had!
Throughout the afternoon, various participants of the Miniature Horse show were riding around in carts, demonstrating their ability to control their ponies.
Here is a close-up shot of the Manufacturer ID Plate for the Starship 3000.
During the final hour of the Fair, the admission gates close. So, quite a few people take advantage to tour the fairgrounds before it all gets packed up. Here is a lady riding a three-wheeled bicycle while towing a canoe. That was definitely quite unique.
The Mulligan Wheel was giving its final rides of the fair. I decided to ride it one final time before it was packed away.
The remaining people were starting to filter out as the fair was coming to an end.
Some children were getting in their final rides of the day before heading home.
The Tilt-A-Whirl was sitting silent as it awaited its turned to be packed up and taken to the next fair.
Nearly one hour after the fair had closed for another year, the rides began to be quickly packed up. Here is the Sizzler getting prepared for transport.
Here is the Sizzler packed up onto a single semi-transport. It is a rather compact ride.
The Mulligan Wheel was also being dismantled at that time.
Here is one final look down the midway at the 106th Acton Fall Fair as the staff of Albion Amusements were busy taking down the rides and games. It was another great fair! See you next year!
If you missed or would like to have another look at photos from the first and second days of the 106th Acton Fall Fair, be sure to check them out here! :-)

Acton Fall Fair - September 21st, 2019

Day two (September 21st) of the 106th Acton Fall Fair was another fun day! The weather was yet again nice and warm, allowing many people to come take in the sights and sounds of the fair.

In the afternoon, my good friend Travis came up for a visit to see the Acton Fall Fair. We checked out the venues and rode a few rides together, as he hadn't been to the fair in four years. Overall, it was another great day! Photos from day one of the fair can be viewed here.

After arriving at the Acton Fall Fair in the morning, I headed into the Dufferin Community Centre to look at more of the entries.
Here are the jams and preservative entries.
Over here are the photography contest entries.
There were many baked goods and antiques entries at the fair this year.
After looking at the home craft entries, I headed over to the Poultry barn. There, the judges were judging the chickens and ducks.
On Saturday, the midway rides do not open until 11am.
The midway rides sat quietly as they awaited the 11am opening.
Nearly an hour later, the midway and fairgrounds were bustling with fun and excitement!
The Carousel was greatly enjoyed by the young children visiting the fair.
Zero Gravity was thrilling a few passengers in the early afternoon.
The Avalanche always seem to draw a crowd regardless of the time of day!
A ride on the Scooter bumper cars is a fun time for visitors of all ages!
Children of all ages enjoy taking a try at the Balloon Popping game as they can win a prize every time they play.

The lawn tractor pulls are one of the highlight events on the track at the Acton Fall Fair. They continued well into the evening.
Saturday evening is the busiest time to visit the fair. The warm weather helps draw even larger crowds.
Travis and I rode three rides together, which included the Tilt-A-Whirl, Berry-Go-Round, and the Mulligan Wheel.
The midway always comes to life as the sun sets off in the horizon.
The Orbiter was quite a blur as it hurtles passengers in to orbit.
The Cuckoo Haus fun house was quite bright and was extremely popular during the day.
The warm summer-like evenings are the most enjoyable times to visit the fair.
After Travis headed home, I captured this vibrant shot of the midway.
Here I am on my favourite midway ride, the Tilt-A-Whirl!
The Scooter bumper cars boasts a colourful array of lights.
The lights on the Himalaya were quite flashy. It's too bad that a few of them were burnt out.
The strobe lights on the Zero Gravity were flashing mid-way through the duration of the ride.
Here's a view of the midway from the Tilt-A-Whirl before taking my final ride of the night on it.
After another great day at the Acton Fall Fair, it was time to head on home! Photos from the third and final day of the 106th Acton Fall Fair can be viewed here!

Acton Fall Fair - September 20th, 2019

The weekend of September 20th-22nd marked the 106th annual Acton Fall Fair! During the three-day event, I managed to capture many photos of the midway, which was supplied by Albion Amusements of Markdale, Ontario, as well as the many events and entertainment that took place at the fair. Thankfully the weather was beautiful yet again, so no events were cancelled.

Below are photos from Friday night. That evening I had met up with my friend Phil, who had never been to the Acton Fall Fair before. So, I was able to show him why it is one of the best Fall Fairs in Ontario! Be sure to look at the photos from the first day of the 106th Acton Fall Fair below! Photos from Saturday and Sunday can be viewed by clicking the attached hyperlink at the end of this entry.

Once I arrived on the fairgrounds of the Acton Fall Fair, I was greeted by scarecrows that the school children had put together during Education Day event, that had occurred earlier that day.
As I ventured the midway, I noticed Albion Amusements had spruced up their ticket booths, making them look new and modern.
Also new on the midway from Albion Amusements was this ATM and Customer Service booth. It looked quite nice.
The wonderful Tilt-A-Whirl had made a return to the Acton Fall Fair midway. It was absent last year due to maintenance.
After walking around the midway, I headed down to the end of the fairgrounds to look at the Agricultural animal tent. While I was there, a group of goat kids were huddled in the play structure that was set up in their pen.
After checking out the Agricultural tent, I walked on over to the Poultry barn. Many exhibitors were bringing in their entries of chickens and ducks at that time.
Here's a view of the midway from nearby the poultry barn.
As a member of Heritage Acton, I took a photo of their display in the home crafts (Dufferin Community Centre) building. It featured many photo entries of historical buildings around town. Attendees of the fair could then choose which they thought were the best entries. A cash prize would then be awarded to the best entries.

This year marked 175 years since the naming of Acton. In 1825 the area was originally settled by Ezra, Zenas, and Rufus Adams. In 1828, the area of what is now known as Acton was named Dansville. Later it was renamed Admasville, to honour the original founders of the settlement. In 1844, the community was renamed Acton.
The talented Acton Citizens Band was performing in the Dufferin Community Centre before the Miss Acton Fall Fair Pageant took place.
The warmer weather brought out quite a few people to the Acton Fall Fair on Friday evening. Here's a look down the main midway.
Children of various ages were enjoying the games found on the midway.
As I went to greet my friend who had arrived, I captured this photo of the fair from across Fairy Lake.
At 7pm on Friday night, the heavy horse pull was on the track. Many of the horses were able to pull the weights quite a distance.
Once the sun had set, the ride lights came on, illuminating the midway.
Surprisingly, this photo was captured just minutes after the previous one. I guess the huge lights shining down on the grounds further back made it look darker outside than it actually was. The Mulligan Wheel had a nice light package as usual.
The kiddie midway was brightly lit as seen from the Mulligan Wheel.
The main midway rides also looked quite nice from above.
The lights on the Mulligan Wheel shone on the white spokes of the wheel.
Here's a clearer view of the kiddie midway from the Mulligan Wheel.
The Raiders walk through attraction was placed in the back-center of the midway. Its new location attracted many children.
Here's the Tilt-A-Whirl and the Himalaya after dark.
The Orbiter was moving at full-speed. Sadly its spectacular lights were not on during the fair.
In my opinion, the ride lights provide a cozy and comforting feeling.
Here's the Starship 3000 under the night sky.
This photo for some reason didn't capture the brightness of the Sizzler. But is sure was shining brightly that night with it LED bulbs!
Here is my friend Phil and I on the Sizzler before the ride began.
The Avalanche was attracting the crowds as it sends passengers round and round!
The Orbiter is one of the more intense rides on the midway, mostly attracting teenagers and young adults.

The Himalaya used to be one of the flashiest rides on the midway with its array of lights. Unfortunately, many of them, especially of the center board were burnt out.
After a great evening of fun, the fist day of the 106th Acton Fall Fair had came to a close. Here is a close-up view of the Avalanche's lights reflecting onto Fairy Lake.
Here's another shot of the midway overlooking Fairy Lake. Photos from day two of the 106th Acton Fall Fair can be viewed here. Thank you for looking at my photos of a great Friday evening spent at the fair! :-)
