Acton Fall Fair- September 16th and 17th, 2023

 What a weekend for the 110th Acton Fall Fair!

It was great spending time at the Acton Fall Fair on Saturday, September 16th and Sunday, September 17th as the weather was perfect! It was great seeing many familiar faces and taking in the sites and sounds of the fair!

I usually visit all three days of the Acton Fall Fair, but due to my work schedule, I was able to visit on Saturday and Sunday. 
Saturday morning began slightly cool and very sunny! Here is a look at the new Acton Fair sign located at the entrance. It looked really great! I heard it was a rental, so I hope it returns next year!

After walking around for a little while and checking out how well my entries did, the rides opened shortly after 11am. My brother Scott and I bought some tickets to take a ride on the classic Loop-O-Plane known as the 'Hammer'.
The Hammer was owned by Homeniuk Rides Inc until Albion Amusements (long time Acton Fall Fair midway provider) and Homeniuk Rides merged in early 2022. I was glad to see Homeniuk's rides on the midway this year as they did have some classic rides!

I hadn't been on a Loop-O-Plane since my first visit to the Georgetown Fall Fair in September 2019 (rides at the Georgetown Fall Fair provided by Magical Midway). This unit was just as fun and thrilling despite being electric! I recall years ago Albion Amusements having a unit that was white and bright green. It was nice to see this classic ride at the fair.

Albion Amusements brought along some longtime classics such as the Starship 3000 and the Himalaya.

They also brought their Cuckoo Haus.

And a Sizzler and Zero Gravity too!

Albion Amusements also brought a smaller Scooter Bumper Car ride than I recall them owning in the past. Possibly this unit was previously owned by Homeniuk Rides? Regardless, it had a nice sound track for a Bumper Car ride which kind of caught me by surprise!

The Orbiter was placed at the west end of the midway this year, next to the Mulligan Wheel which was located in the same location as last year.

The Mulligan Wheel has been a nice addition to Albion Amusement's lineup for well over a decade now.

The owner of Albion Amusements, John Robertson passed away in March. Albion Amusements honoured his legacy with banners and a backwards horse on the Merry-Go-Round, which was reported to be his favourite ride.
It was nice to see this tribute as I have always enjoyed the midway and seeing the staff of Albion Amusements over the years (actually my whole life so far!).

Back at the Acton Fall Fair was our family's 1948 8N Ford Tractor! It originally appeared at the fair in 1948 and is 75 years old this year! My brother Scott drove it to the fairgrounds Friday morning and drove it back home Sunday afternoon.

During Saturday morning and early Saturday afternoon there were some horses and their owners running on the tracks competing for various ribbons.

Unfortunately there weren't too many entries this year. But I guess the upkeep of horses has skyrocketed since the pandemic.

The midway at the Acton Fall Fair became quite busy throughout Saturday afternoon.

The poultry barn had a lot of entries including this interesting looking fowl!

The Hammer was looping throughout the day.

Inside the AG Awareness Tent were some donkeys, goats, sheep, and other farm animals.

The colours on the Mulligan Wheel really stand out when the skies are somewhat cloudy.

The Orbiter was placed quite close to the Mulligan Wheel.

Since it was Scott and I's birthday, we headed home to have a birthday meal and some cake before coming back to the Fall Fair with our friend Travis.

If you look closely, you can see me about to take my second ride of the day on The Hammer. I greatly enjoy classic rides like this!

Here is Travis on the opposite side of the ride before it went. Let's just say it was a one and done for him. lol

A lot of people came out to the fair on this beautiful Saturday evening.

Midway lights at night are always beautiful!

The Merry-Go-Round is a midway classic.

The Orbiter was thrilling fairgoers of all ages under the dark skies.

Th Mulligan Wheel had quite the line!

It was nice to see the midway bustling with excitement!

Like I've said before, midway ride lights at night are very beautiful!

The sign was lit nice and bright once the sun went down!

Sunday morning started off with some 4H members showing off their cattle.

A crowd was enjoying a Sunday morning ride on the bumper cars.

In the early afternoon, the sun came out from behind the clouds that teased rain throughout the day. Thankfully the rain didn't come until after the fair had closed!

On the track Sunday afternoon was the Antique Tractor Pulls and the Truck Pulls.

The tractors were quiet in comparison to the trucks!

The midway was quiet on Sunday, which is usually the case for the final day of the fair.

The children's rides were being enjoyed by those young and young at heart.

After a great Sunday at the Acton Fall Fair, Scott and I took one final ride on the Mulligan Wheel.

I've said this in the past, but it is a very nice wheel!

For some reason I took a photo of our last ride tickets. lol

Acton Fall Fair - September 16th - 18th, 2022

 What a great way to spend a weekend! It was great to be back at the Acton Fall Fair of Acton, Ontario after a two year hiatus! It was a fun three days seeing friends and acquaintances I haven't seen in a while due to the pandemic! Below are some photos of my weekend at the fair. :-)

This is a view I hadn't seen since September 2019!

There was a decent sized crowd on the midway for a Friday evening.

It was great to see the community come together after a few years of no major events.

We were lucky to have a great evening of nice weather.

The giant Mulligan Wheel was set up in the center of the fairgrounds this year, making it a prominent feature.

It was nice to see its lights shining bright over Prospect Park again.

Throughout Friday evening, Scott and I had hung out with our friend Travis, riding some of the rides together. The Mulligan Wheel was one of them. It provides a nice view of the midway.

The dazzling lights were quite a sight!

The animals in the Ag Awareness tent were back.

The Berry Go Round was our final ride for Friday. Scott and I sure know how to spin it!

Albion Amusements is very fortunate to own such a lovely piece such as the Mulligan Wheel.

The Avalanche is a swirl of action at night!

Taking photos of midway rides at night is one of my favourite things to do!

Midway rides at night look spectacular with their flashing lights.

Just before the Acton Fall Fair closed for its first night in three years, I captured one final photo of the Mulligan Wheel.

The next day, a lot of people came out to the fair. It was great to see many out enjoying it on a very nice day!

The Acton Fall Fair has always been a great way to create memories for people of all ages!

A ride on the Mulligan Wheel is a must when visiting the Acton Fall Fair.

You can see the excitement in the faces of the people riding the Avalanche as it went around!

It was a very warm day with a bit of cloud coverage and a nice breeze.

It was nice to see the fair bounce back after a pandemic when caused many things to grind to a halt over the past couple of years. The return of the fair also saw the return of many local food vendors, including Gord's Hot Dog stand! He serves the best hot dogs in town!

The Mulligan Wheel is always so very photogenic.

The midway was scaled down this year compared to other years prior to the pandemic. But we're really lucky that midway companies like Albion Amusements were able to survive through difficult times as they did not operate at all in 2020.

The Sizzler was providing some classic fun with its sweeping motion.

Saturday evening at the Acton Fall Fair saw the return of the lawn tractor pulls.

Some were able to pull the weight quite far!

The fairgrounds began to become busy in the late afternoon and early evening.

Younger fairgoers were enjoying the Lolly Swing once it got dark.

Games of skill and luck are always a classic at many fairs!

The line for the Mulligan Wheel got quite long in the evening.

My camera had a hard time focusing on all the lights of the midway!

The Zero Gravity is just a blur in this photo!

From the Mulligan Wheel you can get a nice view of the other rides, including the Sizzler.

Late Saturday evening, the beer tent was packed! The absence of the fair over the past couple of years made a lot of people yearn for a social event like this.

After another day of fun at the Acton Fall Fair, it was time to head home for the night.

Sunday morning at the fair featured some antique tractor pulls , followed by some truck pulls.

Some of the tractors were quite loud as they pulled the weight sled along the track.

Just before a rain shower passed through, Scott and I hopped onto the Mulligan Wheel.

The chance of rain kept some people away for the final day of the fair.

The children's midway had a nice collection of classic rides.

From the Mulligan Wheel you can see the row of vendors.

The rain began to come down hard for a short while, but it didn't seem to deter those who were there as the temperatures were warm.

During the heavy rainfall Scott and I headed into the Homecrafts building. There were quite a few entries despite the reduction of categories.

Travis and his girlfriend came by Sunday afternoon to enjoy the fair during its final hours.

After the rain had passed, the sun came out allowing the fair to end off on a great note!
