From The Vault: Canada's Wonderland - May 1st and 14th, 2015

The following photos and video clips shared in this blog post are from two of my visits to Canada's Wonderland in May 2015. This was a year before I began blogging and documenting my amusement park visits on my blog, Amusement Views!

While the photos might not be much, they do look at Typhoon and Splash Station, the two new attractions for Splash Works that year just before they opened to the public. These photos also look at what would become the home of Yukon Striker four years later in 2019. Be sure to enjoy this blast from the past!

Season Pass Sneak Preview Night - May 1st, 2015:

Here is a view of the Royal Fountain and Wonder Mountain during the 2015 Season Pass Sneak Preview Night. Below is a video clip of the Royal Fountain just as the sun was setting. From what I recall, the night was a calm and clear evening with a little bit of a chill in the air, typical weather for early-May. Unfortunately I did not capture any other photos or videos from the evening.

May 14th, 2015:

May 2015 was bustling with excitement and speculation at Canada's Wonderland! The excitement and speculation was caused by some work being done on the grounds where SkyRider, the park's former Stand-Up coaster had once operated. Little did we know at the time that the area would become home to the World's tallest, longest, and fastest Dive Coaster in the World!

It sure was a beautiful and warm sunny day at the park judging by this photo captured in the morning.

Victoria Falls on Wonder Mountain sure was flowing beautifully as it usually does!

Here is another angle of Victoria Falls from a little further back than the previous shot I had captured.

Below is a video of a bulldozer grading and levelling off the land which SkyRider had formerly operated on from 1985 through 2014. This area has greatly transformed since the addition of Yukon Striker in 2019!

Here is a look at the two new Splash Works attractions for that year. The Typhoon and Splash Station both came from the former Ontario Place water park and had received refurbishments during the off-season before being set up at Canada's Wonderland. When this photo was taken, Splash Works had not yet opened for the season.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the sign for The Mighty Canadian Minebuster had received a touch-up for the 2015 season. It looks all shiny and new in this photo.

Work was still being completed on the former SkyRider plot during our visit that day.

We'll end this trip report from May 2015 with a beautiful photo of the Antique Carousel surrounded by pink blossoms.

I hope you enjoyed looking at the photos that I had captured during two of my visits to Canada's Wonderland in May 2015! The park has changed quite a bit within the nearly past six years that these photos were taken. Be sure to stay tuned for more photos from the 2015 season! :-)

Canada's Wonderland- August 8th, 2018

Today marked our sixth visit of the season to Canada's Wonderland. Despite being quite rainy throughout the day, we had another amazing time! it allowed us to get on many rides! Be sure to check out the photos below!

Our day started out cloudy and drizzly, the perfect conditions for a not so busy day of thrills!
Ghoster Coaster is a family wooden roller coaster. It has operated at the park since day one, over 37 years ago. For a smaller wooden roller coaster, it provides a great amount of airtime in the back seat!
With the construction that has recently been taking place at Canada's Wonderland for next year's roller coaster, the path to Splash Works was closed early in the season. Here is a view of Vortex with one of its trains speeding over the water below from the newly constructed path.
Due to the rainfall that had hit Vaughan earlier in the morning, Splash Works was closed for the day due to low attendance levels.
The announcement for the new for 2019 roller coaster will be on August 15th, 2018. So, stay tuned for details on that!
To me, Medieval Faire has always been ever so charming. Don't get me wrong, the other sections are beautiful in their own rights, but there is something about castle architecture that makes it so appealing.
The Wonderland Theatre just tops off Medieval Faire. The Wonderland Theatre originally opened with the park in May of 1981 as "Canterbury Theatre". In May of 1994, it received the name of "Paramount Theatre", due to the park's second owner, Paramount Parks, a division of Viacom. In 2008, the venue received its current name, nearly two years after Cedar Fair had acquired the Paramount Parks properties in June of 2006. Regardless of the various names the theatre has had over the 37 years, it has always captivated audiences with its show-stopping performances.
The Medieval Faire section is also home to some beautiful flower arrangements, as seen here.
No matter how many times I have been to Canada's Wonderland over the years, I can never get tired of seeing some of the original theming that is "hidden" around the park. Such details make Canada's Wonderland quite unique.
After a great day soaking at Canada's Wonderland, the sun began to come out just as we were leaving for the day! Here is a photo of our Mom, Scott, and I before we headed out. Thanks for reading! :-)

Canada's Wonderland- August 17th, 2016

It was another great day at Canada's Wonderland which was my 9th visit of the season! Today, Travis came along so, we had also hit up Splashworks, the water park in the early afternoon. We arrived shortly before 9:30am and left around 4:30pm. We did a lot of rides today. Despite it being busy it was a fun day as usual. We even rode Behemoth in the rain which is exciting as usual! Enjoy the photos below!

We arrived at Canada's Wonderland shortly before 9:30am. It was a slightly overcast day which made the temperatures slightly cooler.
While we were waiting for the rides to open for the day, you could tell some rain was coming.
After riding quite a few rides and coasters in International Festival and Action Zone, including a ride on Behemoth in the rain, we decided to take a ride on Mighty Canadian Minebuster and then head on over to Timberwolf Falls to get soaked! Here is a view of Windseeker and Slingshot both standing 300 feet high against the blue and cloud-filled sky.
Here we are after taking a fun, but extremely soaking ride on Timberwolf Falls.
After getting a bite to eat, we spent an hour and a half in Splash Works getting on most of the water slides. Around 1:40pm, we decided we had enough and spent the rest of the day riding rides and other coasters in the park.
Splashworks sure has grown over the years since it's opening in 1992, with the most recent addition of Typhoon and Splash Station last year.
After going to Splash Works, we decided to head on over to Medieval Faire and line up for Leviathan. Operations were great as usual so, even though the queue was full, we only waited an hour in line. Here's a view of Nightmares operating at full tilt.
Here's a view of Drop Tower through Leviathan's track while we were waiting in line.
After riding Leviathan, Scott and I decided to take a ride on The Rage. This shot was captured after our ride.
Although we didn't ride Shockwave today, I decided to get a photo of it in action.
Here's a view of how busy the park was today. People are getting in their last rides of the summer.
Here is a photo of Skyhawk's sign. I rode Skyhawk twice earlier today and flipped 19 times during my 1st ride of the day and flipped 26 times during the ride after that. So far, I've ridden Skyhawk 18 times and have a personal record of 28 flips. :-)
Here we are after another amazing day at Canada's Wonderland! I hope you enjoyed the photos! :-)
