Canada's Wonderland - July 31st, 2019

It is definitely hard to believe that the end of July is here! I spent the last day of July at Canada's Wonderland, making it my eighth visit of the season! The temperatures were slightly cooler than my previous visit to the park, which made the day more enjoyable.

As my Mom and I walked up to the front gate after parking the car, Leviathan greeted us with its bold teal paint against the hazy blue sky. 

After riding Yukon Striker twice after opening, I noticed Windseeker's seats were sky-high. They were that way all day while maintenance was being done.

As passengers on Yukon Striker hang over the edge of a 245 foot drop, they tend to go through a wide range of emotions! The first drop is still truly amazing, even after 23 rides later!

Both Vortex and Windseeker were down during my visit, making the other ride lines a bit longer.

It's hands up all the way on Behemoth in order to best experience the airtime! 

Backlot Stunt Coaster is action-packed with it's initial launch and high speed curves. Although some of the passengers in this photo look rather relaxed as they head into the mid-course break run.

The flowers along International Street are quite beautiful, even in black and white!

Before joining the single rider line again for Yukon Striker, I captured a few photos of this great coaster in action.

Canada's Wonderland - May 21st, 2019

Tuesday, May 21st marked my fourth visit of the 2019 season to Canada's Wonderland! During my 18 days since my last visit to the park, a few small changes regarding Yukon Striker had occurred, which is good to see. Also the weather has since greatly improved since my previous visit! During this visit, I managed to capture some historical comparison photos of the park's past that some may enjoy!

After entering the park just after the front gates opened for the day, I captured this photo. 

Not too much has changed on International Street since 1981, except for the addition of a fence around the Royal Fountain and the trees have grown over the past 38 years. Also note that the wonderful landscaping crew was setting up the floral Canadian Flag during my visit.

During Season Pass Sneak Preview Night, I had noticed that the international Showplace had a canopy once again. It went without one during the 2018 season due to an ice storm that hit southern Ontario in April of last year. 

Here I am standing outside my old work location at Canada's Wonderland while being a Maze Usher during Halloween Haunt last October. For those who don't know, this is the location of the Ruin and Blackout mazes which are located in the basement of Wonder Mountain.

Since my last visit to Canada's Wonderland (May 3rd), Yukon Striker's tunnel was painted brown in order to make it darker. It was quite bright when it was just plain concrete. I applaud this decision as a tunnel should be dark.

After catching a ride on Yukon Striker to kick off a start to a great day, I captured a few summer-like photos of Yukon Striker.

Since it was quite windy in the morning, the trains on Yukon Striker moved a tad slower. This allowed passengers to experience a great amount of hang time on Yukon Striker's inversions, which made the ride experience quite unique!

While the first drop on Yukon Striker is the main draw, the second drop after the mid-course brake run is quite thrilling as it features a pop of airtime before the train heads into the final helix.

Timberwolf Falls and White Water Canyon opened last Friday for the season. I took a ride (or two) on both today. White Water Canyon and Timberwolf Falls are celebrating 35 and 30 years of operation, respectively this season.

Here's a view of Vortex today with a view of Vortex from 1991. The nearby trees have certainly grown over the past 28 years! Also, Wonder Mountain's Guardian opened overhead in 2014, five years ago.

Here's a look at Klockwerks with a view of the former Bayern's Curve in 2000. While both Klockwerks and Bayern's Curve were both original attractions at Canada's Wonderland when the park opened in 1981, Klockwerks had operated across the "street" until the end of the 2000 season, in order to make room for Shockwave. Bayern's Curve was ultimately removed from the park in order to accommodate a relocated Klockwerks.

In the photo of Arthur's Baye in Medieval Faire from 1981, you can see quite a few similarities in the view of today as Viking's Rage, Wilde Knight Mares, and Wilde Beast still operate at the park. Also, a performance structure still exists in Arthur's Baye, although no longer a pirate ship. Today, Drop Tower and Leviathan dominate the skies in the section of the park.

The beautiful blossoms were coming out at Canada's Wonderland with the arrival of seasonal temperatures.

Canada's Wonderland- May 23rd, 2018

Today, Scott, our Mom, and I made our third visit of the season to Canada's Wonderland. After spending a great weekend at La Ronde, it was nice to be back "home". The weather was nice and sunny, with the temperature not too warm, but warm enough to ride some water rides such as White Water Canyon and Timber Wolf Falls. The park also was not busy, so we had gotten on many of the rides. Of interest, today had marked exactly 37 years ago that Canada's Wonderland had opened.

It was nice to be back at Canada's Wonderland on this sunny and warm late-May day.

Today we had happened to capture the amazing landscaping crew setting up the Canadian floral flag on International Street for another season.

Last time I had mentioned that Spinovator's center had received a repaint. Since our last visit to the park a couple weeks ago, they had added this interesting centerpiece to top it off. It looks quite nice.

In the morning we had rode White Water Canyon a couple of times. By the time the afternoon had rolled around, the sun was out, making it quite hot at the park. So, Scott and I decided to take a ride on Timberwolf Falls to cool down. 

Unfortunately Riptide was constantly down today. But, I did happen to notice they it had received some very nice restraint covers this year.

The blossoms were fully out on the trees around the park. Since it was slightly breezy at times, they were blowing onto the ground and into the water around the park. Here is the waterfalls in front of Timberwolf Falls, which is quite beautiful and serene at times like this.

Far off in the distance you could see visitors enjoying a ride on the Mighty Canadian Minebuster!

Since it was a nice day, construction for Canada's Wonderland's next surprise was well underway!

Here is a special SledgeHammer update for one of my readers! Unfortunately SledgeHammer was still closed, but at least it was put back together since our last visit. I am hoping it will be up and operating by our next visit!

After an amazing day at Canada's Wonderland, we decided to call it a day and head home!

On our way to the exit, we checked in on the progress of the landscaping crew. The floral Canadian flag was almost complete! Thanks for taking a look of our great day at Canada's Wonderland! Happy 37th anniversary, Canada's Wonderland! :-)

Canada's Wonderland- June 22nd, 2017

So, after a three week hiatus we made it back to Canada's Wonderland for our fifth visit of the season. My brother Scott and our Mom accompanied me on our visit. The visit to Canada's Wonderland sure upped my spirits as college was bogging me down for a while. Everyone deserves fun in life every so often, so I managed to squeeze another visit into my schedule! Below are some awesome photos from our day. Enjoy!

We entered the park shortly after 9:30am and were greeted by many Canada 150 celebration decorations and of course, Snoopy!

If you didn't already know, Canada is celebrating 150 years as a country this year! 

As we were waiting for the rides to open for the day at 10am, I captured this interesting and beautiful photo of the flowers at the base of the globe in Action Zone.

Here is Flight Deck testing before it opened for the day. It was neat watching the slightly closed restraints completely close by the time the train went through the roll over

After catching many morning rides on the rides located within Action Zone and International Festival, as well as a ride on White Water Canyon, it began to rain. We ventured on our way over to Coasters Diner in Action Zone to get a bite to eat. After getting a bite to eat, we headed to the arcades to play some games as the rain passed.

Even well after the rainfall, there was still a lot of drying up to do. Here is a maintenance crew member drying off the track from Kidzville Station. Scott and I were headed over to Ghoster Coaster when I captured this photo.

Here are some riders going 300 feet into the air on Slingshot. After this photo, Scott and I flung sky high for another enjoyable ride on Slingshot! Season Pass holders can now receive $5 off when they present their season pass when purchasing tickets for a ride on Slingshot.

My Mom and I took a spin on the Antique Carousel. There was a slight delay before we got on so, while we waited I managed to capture a photo of this carved horse on this beautiful 1928 PTC carousel.

While my Mom and I took a ride on the Antique Carousel, Scott sat in the shade and watched as we enjoyed a relaxing ride.

Work was being done on the diving platform in Arthur's Bay located in Medieval Faire as there will be Canada 150 celebrations taking place all throughout July.

We decided to call it a day after 4pm. Here is Scott, our Mom, and I after a fun and enjoyable day at Canada's Wonderland!
